Can it be that the time is ripe for the United States to replace its negative "embargo" trade policy toward China with a more positive, competitive trade policy?These China-watchers think so - and offer some interesting reasons to support theirview. For example, isn't it interesting that, from all appearances, China wouldmuch rather trade with capitalist countries than with communist countries? If ourrelationship with Red China is ever to evolve out of the stage of "Ping-Pong diplomacy" to a more stable long-term relationship, then expanded trade agreements are a necessity. Surprisingly enough, such an expansion might be very much in our own self-interest.
