The object of deconstruction theory is the writing of otherness. This otherness can also be called the reflecting text, in so far as the writer attempts to go beyond language, in search of traces that can lead to a renewed identity. French literature from the Maghreb is concerned with the same questioning, since it is a literature in translation. Its focus is not representation, as in classical literature, but the resurgence and emergence of identity.
