SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
This research focused on capturing consumer's realities to gain an in-depth understanding of strategies needed to influence preferences of smartphone consumers in Akoka Township of Lagos State in Nigeria. An exploratory research design was employed for the study. The researcher adopted an interpretivism paradigm for the study's philosophical framework to describe the research tradition from an interpretive worldview. To achieve the research objective, the researcher identified market driving conceptual framework most appropriate based on its approach consistent with value creation, change, and leadership (Hill, 2004). The importance of using market driving framework is because the approach can help firms survive in a fast-paced and competitive business environment (Hill, 2004) supported by Humphreys and Carpenter (2018). Purposive sampling was implemented due to the non-probabilistic sampling method appropriate for exploratory research study (Gill, 2014) supported by Allen (2017). The snowballing sampling technique was used for participant recruitment via the email recruitment method. A summative content analysis method was used to analyze the research data, for identifying emerging themes, and for mapping out patterns from the themes. The summative content analysis method adopted fits perfectly for systematic coding and categorizing text responses (Griffiths, 2016). The thematic approach applied was confirmed to be the method used for qualitative data analysis through which themes are developed from textual, transcripts, and other non-textual sources and data (Byre, 2017). The findings indicated the research study can benefit the transforming of smartphones to meet consumers expectations. The feedback shared indicated that the (1) Smartphone industry, (2) Stakeholders, and (3) Business Administrators can benefit from the new information gathered to create effective strategies, practices, processes, and procedures to advance the business administration profession.
