کتابخانه مرکزی دانشگاه همزمان با تأسیس دانشگاه در سال ۱۳۶۸ فعالیت اصلی خود را شروع کردمأموریت اصلی کتابخانه های دانشگاهی ، فراهم کردن امکان دسترسی اعضای هیأت علمی ، دانشجویان ، پژوهشگران به اطلاعات علمی سازمان یافته برای توسعه دانش است. کتابخانه مرکزی دانشگاه به منظور تأمین نیازهای آموزشی، پژوهشی، تحقیقاتی و فرهنگی اساتید ، دانشجویان و کارمندان تأسیس شده است و وظیفه گردآوری و سازماندهی مجموعه ای از کتب ، مجلات ، مقالات ، گزارشهای تحقیقاتی، مواد دیداری و شنیداری ، بانک اطلاعاتی ، منابع الکترونیکی و سایر منابع مورد نیاز گروههای تحقیقاتی را بر عهده دارد و در حال حاضر بیش از ۶۰۰۰ نفر عضو دارد.
