متن يادداشت
I examine the change in Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan's star persona, originally honed in the 1970s during Indira Gandhi's declaration of Emergency, from an "angry young man" to the wealthy and wise elder statesman persona he adopted in the 1990s in order to make conclusions about changes in the Indian film industry and cultural changes within India and to better understand the effects of globalization on the Indian film industry including depictions of masculinity and the family. I believe an analysis of these changes in popular Hindi film necessarily includes an analysis of Bachchan's career not only because of his virtually unrivalled popularity but, more importantly, as contemporary Hindi film aims to hybridize the past with the present it must be the "angry young man" to bridge these two times.
