The purpose of this quantitative study was to investigate differences in levels of creativity of university faculty members in regard to perceived leadership styles in the education departments in the Social Science College at Al-Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Saudi Arabia. There were 169 respondents. Factorial ANOVA was used to analyze the results. The findings of the research showed the correlations between leadership styles and creativity. Transformational leadership was moderately positively associated with creativity. Transactional leadership was strongly positively associated with creativity. Passive-avoidant was weakly positively associated with creativity. Findings of the research show that main effects of perceptions of transformational leadership, transactional leadership, and passive-avoidant leadership on creativity levels were significant. The findings of the research showed that strong perceptions of the three types of leadership resulted in higher levels of creativity than low or moderate perceptions of the three types of leadership. Strong perceptions of transactional leadership resulted in the highest levels of creativity, with strong perceptions of transformational leadership and passive-avoidant resulting in lower, but nearly equal levels of creativity. These levels of creativity, however, all were moderate. The results support a greater need for further studies in regard to leadership styles at Saudi Arabian universities. Those studies need to be context with the dominant leadership styles throughout the country. Study of the relationship of leadership style and creativity should include additional institutions of higher education in Saudi Arabia. Since the research findings show a significant relationship between perceptions of leadership styles and levels of creativity, more attention needs to go to how best to use these findings to enhance creativity levels at Saudi Arabian universities and to enhance the influence of the universities in promoting creativity throughout Saudi Arabia.
