Mahmud (Maḥmūd) Paşa ( Angelović , d. 879/1474) was an Ottoman grand vizier and poet during the reign of Sultan Mehmed (Meḥmed) II (r. 848-50/1444-6 and 855-86/1451-81). He was a native of the Serbian city of Novo Brdo (in today's Kosovo) and claimed descent from Byzantine aristocratic families, such as the Angeloi and the Philanthropenoi. By virtue of his descent, he had close relatives who held high offices in Christian states, including his brother Michael Angelović (d. 1473) in Serbia and his cousin George
