The study of nature is one of the main themes of literature during different centuries. Throughout the centuries, nature manifests itself in the appearance implicit and sometimes explicit. The appearance of nature in the works of writers and poets and philosophers is not limited only in the eighteenth century, but before that, there are philosophers as if Aristotle who treats nature considering the state of nature. Many writers discuss the nature in their works in the twentieth century. However, in this research, we study the nature of the novel Regain by Jean Giono. In the first chapter, we did a theoretical study of nature. The point of view of etymology, the word "nature" is derived from the Latin word natura, meaning the world, reality, people and things completely, and of history, we sought to arrive at knowledge of nature among writers movements such as romanticism, naturalism, surrealism, existentialism and the nouveau roman. Thus, we focused on a study about Giono as a pantheist, as well as the state of nature in the great philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Osais Beert and Rousseau. In the second chapter, we set out to make a complete analysis of Regain. The first chapter of this novel shows the death of nature, which is why the negative aspect of the four elements and the dead of nature and man are the center of our study in this second chapter of the thesis. Therefore, there is immobility in nature and the man who increases the effect of death in the reader. The third chapter of our thesis offers the revolt of the human being and nature. Following the second chapter of Regain, which shows, renewal, we investigated the positive aspect of nature through the four elements, and factors such as solidarity and harmony between man and nature and the presence of women through which realizes a total rebirth. There is a correspondence between man and nature and the result of the following of that is a ideal life, as life of Panturle and of Arsule.
